The crescent of the next month of Dhu al Hijja 1440 will be sought in the evening of Thursday 01 August 2019. In Johannesburg, at sunset, the hilaal will be 12 hours 29 minutes.

 

In case of a sighting, Dhu al Hijja will start on Fri 02 Aug 2019. Otherwise, Dhu al Qa’da 1440 will last 30 days with 1st Dhu al Hijja 1440 corresponding to Sat 03 Aug 2019, in-sha-Allah.

 

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) in the coordination of the sighting of the moon.

 

In the light and spirit of the Sunnah, we appeal to jamaats to go out and seek the sighting of the next month’s crescent as well as every new crescent.
