Eid under Lockdown
- Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and current lockdown regulations, Eid Salah in the Masjid or Eid-gah will unfortunately not be possible. Therefore, Eid Salah may be performed at home provided there are four Baligh (mature) males, including the Imam.
- Those at home who are unable to perform the Eid Salah, due to not meeting the conditions of Eid Salah, may perform two or four Raka’at Nafl prayers individually without any extra Takbirat or Khutbah.
- The time of Eid Salah commences from approximately 15 minutes after sunrise until Zawwal.
Meanwhile, the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa has released the following, to facilitate the observance of Eid Day and the Eid Day prayer, within the confines of the home:
We wish all Muslims Eid-ul-Fitr Mubarak. May the Almighty, the All-Hearing, answer our prayers, accept our acts of worship and lift away the coronavirus pandemic, from the midst of all humanity. Aameen.
