Jamiatul Ulama South Africa Confirmation of the Start of Dhu al Qa’da 1440
The crescent was sighted this evening, Wednesday 03 July 2019. As such, the month of Shawwal 1440 has ended with 29 days. Consequently, the following United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) affiliates have determined that the first day of Dhu al Qa’da 1440, in South Africa, corresponds to Thursday, 04 July 2019:

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of the United Ulama Council of South Africa in the coordination of the sighting of the moon. In the light and spirit of the Sunnah, we appeal to jamaats to go out and seek the sighting of the new moon every month.
The next sighting of the moon for the determining the start of the special month of Hajj, Dhu al Hijja 1440, shall be after sunset on Thursday 01 August 2019, in-sha-Allah.
