Moonsighting: Start of Rabi ‘al Thaani 1441

There were a number of confirmed reports of the sighting of the new crescent this evening, in several places in South Africa during the evening of Wednesday 27 November 2019. This means that the month of Rabi al Awwal 1441 ended with 29 days.

Consequently, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) determined that the 1st of Rabi ‘al Thaani 1441 corresponds to Thursday 28th November 2019.

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon.

In the light and spirit of the Sunnah, we appeal to jamaats to go out and seek the sighting of the new moon every month. The next sighting of the moon for the determining the start of Jumaadal Ulaa 1441 shall be after sunset on Thursday 26 December 2019, in-sha-Allah.
