sighting of the moon: Shawwaal 1440

There was wide spread sighting of the crescent in the evening of Tuesday, 04 June 2019. As such, the month of Blessed Ramadan 1440 has ended in South Africa with 29 days.

Consequently, the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) has determined that in South Africa, the 1st of Shawwaal 1440, the day of Eid-ul-Fitr Mubarak, corresponds to Tuesday 05 June  2019.

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Central Hilaal Committee acts on behalf of UUCSA in the coordination of the sighting of the moon.

In the light and spirit of the Sunnah, we appeal to jamaats to go out and seek the sighting of the new moon every month. The next sighting of the moon for the determination 0f the start of Dhu al Qa’da 1440 shall be after sunset on Wednesday, 03 July 2019, in-sha-Allah.

We wish all Muslims, the world over, Eid-ul-Fitr Mubarak! May the Almighty accept our fasts, acts of devotion and worship. Aameen.

Wassalaam.
