The Reopening of the Musalla at ORTIA

COMMUNITY STATEMENT

The Musalla at the OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) is managed under the supervision of the Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA), with the facilitation of the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa (JUSA), acting on behalf of the Muslim public. Like every section of the airport, access to the musalla is under strict Covid-19 control regulations enforced by ACSA.

In line with adherence to South Africa’s Covid-19 protocols, there is consideration of reopening the musalla at ORTIA. The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa is currently compiling a standard operating procedure (SOP) that will detail the interventions put in place for the safe running of the musalla.

This SOP will be provided to the airport authority, ACSA for their consideration, in paving the way for the reopening of the musalla, for public access and prayers.

The public will be duly notified of the outcome of this process.
